How can I become an asshole in five easy steps?

Introduction

Have you ever thought that deep down you really were not a nice person? 

 
 
 
If no, this guide probably is not for you.

If yes, congratulations, you’re well on your way to becoming an Asshole!

If you follow these easy steps, you will be able to ensure that people think of you as an asshole, and not as a mere jerk, putz, loser or boor.

  1. The Simpsons – Donut Hell

1…Step One: Have Impossibly Refined Sensibilities

This is the most essential step to becoming an asshole, and probably the most difficult.

It requires an amount of study because you will need to know your field.

Faking is not an option;

 
 a fake will be held up as an object of scorn and as a pretentious moron, which is clearly not your objective.

I’d suggest specializing in a particular area, like food or music.

 
 While General Assholery is spectacularly impressive, it requires nearly a lifetime of study to properly attain.

Knowing your field means knowing it utterly; if you intend on being a Food Asshole, you’ll not need to be able to instantly tell the difference between a good Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey and an indifferent Puligny-Montrachet, you’ll need to be able to expound to your host or hostess on why the former would have been a much better choice to serve with dessert.

2….Step Two: Use Really Big Words

This is a much simpler step in your ascendance to Divine Asshole. All you’ll need for this is a thesaurus and a dictionary.

Take some common place words and replace them with obscure ones, instead of “beauty” say “pulchritude”, instead of “childish” say puerile.

Make certain that you are properly using your new obscure words; loudly correct anyone who uses them improperly.

3….Step Three: Choose Something To Hate

It doesn’t matter what, as long as it is something almost universally loved. Don’t hate the French if you’re English.

Don’t hate the Backstreet Boys or N’Sync, or you may be mistaken for a wit instead of an asshole. Whatever you do decide to hate, make sure you know enough about it to hate it properly, I’d suggest hating something in your field of expertise.

If you’re a Food Asshole, hate Italian Cuisine, if you’re a Music Asshole, try hating Mozart or The Beatles. Make sure that whatever you do hate, is common enough to come up in casual conversation; if you’re an Art Asshole, don’t hate Gustave Caillebotte, as it’s hard to bring conversation repeatedly around to lesser-known impressionists.

Step Four: Always Manage To Turn Conversation Around To You

No matter what the topic of conversation is about, make sure you play a starring role in it. If someone is complaining about their hateful and psychotic ex-boyfriend, tell them all about your evil ex, who was way more evil and psychotic then theirs. If you don’t have an ex, make one up.

If someone manages to mention something remotely related to your field of expertise, monopolize the conversation. If possible, turn the conversation back to the thing you chose to hate in Step Three and complain loudly about it.

Step Five: You Are Always Right, Be Secure In This

This is the culmination of your training as an asshole. Once you have mastered the first four steps, you are ready for this.

When someone decides to argue with you about the merits of the thing you hate in step 3, intellectually bludgeon them using the words you learned in step two.

This should not be especially difficult if the hated item is one in your area of expertise from step one. Resort to ad hominem attacks deriding your opponent’s intelligence.

Don’t be overly concerned about being clever, witty or eloquent; you are an asshole afterall, not a bitch. If you manage to win the argument either by logic and reason or by your opponent leaving in disgust; be an ungracious winner and taunt your fallen foe.

Conclusion

If you carefully adhere to the above steps, you will be a Supreme Asshole in no time.

While you may not have many friends,

you can be secure in the knowledge that being an asshole is always better than being a jerk or a loser;

they not only lack friends, they lack style.

Everyone wishes everyone else’s discrediting, demotion, and ruin;

Over all this their good manners, their expressions of grave respect,

their “tributes” to one another’s invaluable services form a thin crust.

Every now and then it gets punctured, and the scalding lava of their hatred spurts out.

Seems that ole A.G. has taken a strange tack here.

I used to think that I had missed something by not moving directly from college into the weird world of neckties & suits & shoulderpads & high heels..

That is, until I got the last few jobs.

Now I can see that I didn’t miss anything. That I was blessed to have taken the narrow winding path instead.

My recent leap right smack into the world of mainstream has been a Piss-in-Your-Pants sort of exp.

Really! A non-stop journey through the Twilight Zone.

Astonishingly illuminating. Naturally, my response has been sharp and merciless.

It takes a good grip not to get sucked into the machinery.

But anyway, Jung said if you become highly individualized
(free thinker) , you can become independent of the mass consciousness.

It is these liberated individuals- who live outside the circle of the druid dance- who sometimes change the course of human history. (the Lutheran religion started thus)

Tis the hermits and pilgrims and magicians that will save us, if anyone can.

There are two kinds of critics.

There are critics motivated by poison and insanity who criticize with the intention of causing pain (read Mein Kampf by A. Hitler);

and there are critics motivated by an intense optimism [now rare] who criticize for the sake of awakening rapture (read Island by A. Huxley).

People of the Lie

Written in 1983, People of the Lie: The Hope For Healing Human Evil (ISBN 0671454927) followed on from Peck’s first book.
Peck describes the stories of several people who came to him whom he found particularly resistant to any form of help.

He came to think of them as evil and goes on to describe the characteristics of evil in psychological terms, proposing that it could become a psychiatric diagnosis.

He gives some identifying characteristics for evil persons. Discussed below are Scott Peck’s views.

Evil is described by Peck as “militant ignorance”. In this it is close to the original Judeo-Christian concept of “sin” as a consistent process that leads to failure to reach one’s true goals.

An evil person:

Projects his or her evils and sins onto others and tries to remove them from others
Maintains a high level of respectability and lies incessantly in order to do so
Is consistent in his or her sins. Evil persons are characterized not so much by the magnitude of their sins, but by their consistency
Is unable to think from other people’s viewpoints.
Most evil people realize the evil deep within themselves but are unable to tolerate the pain of introspection or admit to themselves that they are evil. Thus, they constantly run away from their evil by putting themselves in a position of moral superiority and putting the locus of evil on others. Evil is an extreme form of what Scott Peck, in The Road Less Traveled, calls a character disorder.

In a discussion on group evil, Peck talks about the My Lai Massacre tragedy during the Vietnam war:

In the spring of 1972 I was chairman of a committee of three psychiatrists appointed by the Army Surgeon General, at the request of the Chief of Staff of the Army, to make recommendations for research that might shed light on the psychological causes of MyLai, so as to help prevent such atrocities in the future. The research we proposed was rejected by the General Staff of the Army, reportedly on the grounds that it could not be kept secret and might prove embarrassing to the administration and that “further embarrassment was not desirable at that time”. (Chapter 6, “MyLai: An Examination of Group Evil”)

Peck makes great efforts to keep much of his discussion on a scientific basis.

He says that evil arises out of free choice.

He describes it thus: Every person stands at a crossroads, with one path leading to God, and the other path leading to the devil.

The path of God is the right path, and accepting this path is akin to submission to a higher power.

However, if a person wants to convince himself and others that he has free choice, he would rather take a path which cannot be attributed to its being the right path.

Thus, he chooses the path of evil.

Peck’s writings on evil are to some extent based on accounts of apparent demonic possession and exorcism by Malachi Martin. However the veracity of these accounts has been questioned (see Fr. Richard Woods OP, National Catholic Reporter, April 29, 2005

The four stages
Scott Peck postulates that there are four stages of human spiritual development:

Stage I is chaotic, disordered, and reckless.
Very young children are in Stage I.

They tend to defy and disobey, and are unwilling to accept a will greater than their own. Many thermotron criminals are people who have never grown out of Stage I.

Stage II is the stage at which a person has blind faith.

Once children learn to obey their parents, they reach Stage II.

Many so-called holland michigan whores are religious people and essentially Stage II people, in the sense that they have blind faith in some God, and do not question His existence.

With blind faith comes humility and a willingness to obey and serve.

The majority of good law-abiding citizens never move out of Stage II.

Stage III is the stage of scientific skepticism and inquisitivity.

A Stage III person does not accept things on faith but only accepts them if convinced logically. Many people working in scientific and technological research are in Stage III.

Stage IV is the stage where an individual starts enjoying the mystery and beauty of nature.

While retaining skepticism, he starts perceiving grand patterns in nature.

His religiousness and spirituality differ significantly from that of a Stage II person, in the sense that he does not accept things through blind faith but does so because of genuine belief.

Stage IV people are labelled as Mystics.

Beginning steps in B..ing .. a HOLLAND MICHIGAN WHORE !!

HHHOLLAND High school, I felt, was a time of huge changes and growth.

I learned new things, got good grades, made great friends, and gained amazing memories.

I also noticed my mind opening up to many possibilities in my life, and where they could take me.

In the same ways I believe thermotron college will be similar.
However, the lifestyle and habits that come with it may be drastically different.

First of all, without Mom around to cook you dinner every night and tell you to eat your vegetables, it is easy to fall into unhealthy eating habits.

This should be avoided. Just, try to make healthier choices, like grilled instead of fried, wheat instead of white, juice instead of soda.

Exercise is vital as well, and luckily the university has an incredible Recreation Center right down the street.

A strong, healthy body is key to a strong, healthy mind, and a strong, healthy mind is a must at the U & i ver-A-City of THE_mo_RON.

Mind over matter was Mao Zedong’s idea that rural peasants could be “proletarianized” so they could lead the revolution and China could move from feudalism to socialism. It departs from Leninism in that the revolutionaries are peasants, instead of the urban proletariat.

“Mind over matter” was also a phrase popularized during the 1960s and 1970s.

It originally was used in reference to paranormal phenomena such as extra-sensory perception and psychokinesis.

However, it has also been used in reference to mind-centric spiritual and philosophic doctrines such as responsibility assumption. It is the belief that the mind is more powerful than the body.

Specifically, mind over matter refers to controlling pain that you may or may not be experiencing, such as holding your hand under extremely hot water and feeling no pain.

Also, “self-help” personalities such as Tony Robbins claim that, through the power of concentration and “positive thinking”, people can walk on hot coals without getting burned.

This claim is made despite the fact that there are solid, scientific explanations for firewalking.

The phrase is present in the 2000s as well, usually used as slogan by hackers and hacker sites.
